As a result of the selection process, 20 african youth are selected to take part in the Forum scheduled for October 21 and 22 in Lomé on the theme "How to strengthen political transitions towards democratic governance in Africa?". They come from different regions of the continent, namely West Africa, Central Africa, North Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, and the Diaspora.

Information note

This note provides information on the practical and logistical details of the first edition of the “Lomé Peace and Security Forum (LPSF)” to be held in Lomé on 21 and 22 October 2023.

Togo’s commitment to peace and stability in Africa is known to all… By launching “Lome Peace and Security Forum”, the Togolese government, in accordance with the vision of H.E. Mr. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE, President of the Togolese Republic, intends to establish a new African framework for exchanges, discussions and sharing of experiences on peace, security and the future of Africa.

The “Lome Peace and Security Forum” will periodically bring together, among others, representatives of African governments and elsewhere, diplomats, security stakeholders, experts and high-level researchers on peace and security issues, stakeholders from civil society, the media, regional, international and professional organizations and the business community.

At each edition of the Forum, it will be a matter of thinking together in order to jointly build coordinated and relevant solutions to the major challenges relating to peace, security, stability, governance, and development, the future of the continent and to that of the world.

The first edition of the forum will take the form of five (05) panels moderated with a facilitator in attendance of personalities. 

The five panels will address the following themes:

Lome Peace and Security Forum, at the initiative of Togo and his President, H.E. Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE, comes after the launch of the African Political Alliance (A.P.A.) and is part of the dynamics of African initiatives which meet the need for the continent to work more for the consolidation of peace and the consctruction of collective security in an environment marked by the emergence of new areas of tension and the complexity of security challenges due to the expansion of the threat of terrorism and current developments of transnational organized crime.
